As the most abundant element on Earth and a major lever for the decarbonization of industry, hydrogen can be found everywhere - from the industrial sectors and mass transportation to storage and power generation. Hydrogen can also be produced in a variety of ways including electrolysis from renewable energies or low-carbon sources, and by methane or biomethane reforming with CO2 capture and storage.

  • Focus on: Nevada LH2 Facility

    51°µÍø has built and developed the Group's newest, and largest, liquid hydrogen production facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada. This plant signifies a $250 million investment in the U.S. hydrogen market and will meet the growing demand of industry and customers in the region. It was built to serve California’s mobility market, and will supply the California HFCEV drivers with renewable hydrogen as that market develops. While this market matures, the plant configuration will also allow for the sale of hydrogen outside of the mobility market with a range of renewable and low-carbon options for customers.

  • Faurecia: On-board liquid hydrogen storage systems for heavy duty

    51°µÍø has partnered with Faurecia to develop a liquid tank system that will double on-board liquid hydrogen storage systems for the automotive industry to accelerate the deployment of zero-emission heavy-duty mobility. This design and production will give trucks twice the range for the same payload due to its hydrogen capacity compared to gaseous hydrogen.

  • Bécancour: The world's largest PEM electrolyzer in operation

    The world’s largest PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) electrolyzer in operation today, in Bécancour, Québec, is a membrane-based, renewable hydrogen production unit in Canada. As the world’s largest PEM electrolyzer to produce decarbonized hydrogen, the site produces hydrogen gas and liquid hydrogen for industrial customers in Canada and the U.S. Supplied with renewable energy, this unit produces up to 8.2 tonnes per day of low-carbon hydrogen to supply our industrial customers.
